Now Selling and Servicing Chris-Craft Boats
Ford and cars. Tiffany's and diamonds. Chris-Craft and boats. The name and product go hand in hand and evoke American heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and in many cases, timeless beauty. Barrier Island Marine is pleased to announce that it is now the exclusive representative of Chris-Craft boats in the Charleston area.
"Chris-Craft invented production boat-building just like Ford did with cars," says Scott Chapman, general manager of Barrier Island Marine. "There's no other boat builder with the same heritage. For many boaters, the name brings up fond memories of boating with their father or grandfather who owned one. The company, now under new ownership, has returned Chris-Craft to its roots of beauty, craftsmanship, style, performance and comfort. We're excited to offer such a product to the Charleston area."
Around the time Henry T. Ford began making cars, Christopher Columbus Smith began building speedboats. More than 100 years later, the Chris-Craft name has been synonymous with pleasure boating and represents a passion and commitment to classic elegance, total reliability, and cutting-edge performance. The boats are well known and recognized by several distinctive features, such as the deep-V hull, flared bow, and premium exterior and interior hardwoods. The company currently has a fleet of 13 models ranging from 20 to 40 feet that fit one's lifestyle, be it fishing, cruising or water sports.
Chris-Craft recently made its entrance into the center console market with the introduction of the Catalina line. This stylish fish boat is not only for serious fishermen, but also for water sports enthusiasts. The Catalina bears all of the beautiful, traditional design features of Chris-Craft's other models and ranges from 23 to 29 feet.
Chapman says that offering the Chris-Craft line of boats to customers is in keeping with Barrier Island Marine's own traditions. "Chris-Crafts stand out in a sea of sameness. We work hard to do the same," he explains.
Stepping out with a New Look in 2008
Barrier Island kicked off 2008 with a new look and feel. With the help of a local marketing firm, Barrier Island Marine recently completed a company rebranding. The new brand has been introduced through a new logo, an ad campaign, and a Web site. In the coming months, the brand will be integrated through other mediums including a bi-annual newsletter and various marketing collateral.
"Our motto is 'pursue your passion,' and our goal is to provide boats that people aspire to own and back them with the highest level of service and support," explains Scott Chapman with Barrier Island Marine. "We think our new brand and look reflects those aspirations."
Barrier Island and Water Missions International Join Forces to Provide Safe, Clean, Drinking Water
Barrier Island Marine has steadily become a force to reckon with in the Charleston boating market over the last two years. In 2007 the company doubled its revenue; doubled the number of boats sold; and doubled revenue for parts, accessories and service. Barrier Island Marine is sharing that growth with others by supporting a local nonprofit organization, Water Missions International.
"Barrier Island Marine is in the water-for-fun business. Water Missions International is in the water-for-life business," says Scott Chapman with Barrier Island Marine. "We're very excited to partner with Water Missions to help bring safe drinking water to those in need around the world."
Water Missions International is a Christian, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide sustainable access to safe water and the "Living Water" message to people in developing countries and disaster areas. To date, Water Missions has deployed a total of 526 water systems in 33 countries and two U.S. states, making safe water available to more than one million people.
Barrier Island Marine is the $20,000 presenting sponsor for Water Missions' annual fundraiser, the Water for Life Gala, on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Charleston Place Hotel. The gala celebrates World Water Day and is part of Water for Life, a series of events in March that serve to educate and move people to take action against the critical lack of clean, safe drinking water around the world.
